Lend Lease Core Plus Fund (LLCPF) will trial new CSIRO developed smart software to reduce energy usage in four of its commercial assets by up to 30 per cent.
LLCPF will install the software for an initial period to target energy savings, improve tenant comfort and cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The software - BuildingIQ - uses sophisticated technology to optimise how a building’s heating and air conditioning system operates and also incorporates weather updates from the Bureau of Meteorology to maximise air-conditioning and energy efficiency.
"Lend Lease is keen to explore innovation in Sustainability at all levels. We see this product as an opportunity to innovate beyond simple building re-tuning, creating ‘smart’ building management systems to respond to the changing needs of our tenants and our requirement to deliver sustainable solutions, using real time weather updates to streamline energy management," says Cate Collins, Lend Lease’s Asia Pacific head of sustainability.
"We particularly like that the BuildingIQ system can be easily installed in buildings of varying ages with varying existing Building Management Systems without increasing risk of system failure."
BuildingIQ is compatible with building management systems designed after 1995. It does not require any new structural data input to work.
A trial of the system at the CSIRO’s Newcastle Energy Centre achieved cost and energy savings of up to 30 per cent.
